Alan Peters

I was appointed City of Camas Community Development Director in December 2022. I have 12 years of experience in local government, including seven years in Skamania County, Washington where I served as Assistant Planning Director and Community Development Director. Previously, I also worked in planning for Provo, Utah, and Bluffdale, Utah.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Brigham Young University and am a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. Originally from Chicago, I now live in Camas with his wife and daughter and enjoy spending my workdays and weekends in Downtown Camas.

What do you love about Camas?

I love our trails and open spaces, our downtown, and our sense of community.

What do you enjoy about being a part of the Camas Community?

I enjoy that we’ve maintained a close-knit community and a sense of pride in Camas, even as we welcome many new residents each year.

What is your favorite memory in Camas?

I’ve enjoyed many special events in downtown Camas. Still, I have a fond memory of getting into the holiday spirit by attending Hometown Holidays and watching A Christmas Story at the Liberty Theater a few years ago.
