Leah Nichelson

Event and Project Manager

I’m a lifetime Camas/Washougal resident who started my career in Downtown Camas in 2020 as a staff member at the Camas Farmer’s Market. Prior to that, I worked as a chef, and my passion for equity and food access for all led me to look for work with nonprofits. I was invited to join the DCA staff in 2022 after contracting with them to manage vendors at the Camas Plant and Garden Fair. I love the work, the friendship, the community, and the costumes! I’m grateful for my role with the DCA, and I look forward to working with the board and staff to continue the growth and development they’ve worked so hard to establish.

How long have you served on the board?

On staff since June of 2022

What do you love about Camas?

I love the beauty of the local hiking trails, the charming vibe of Downtown and the growing local art scene.

What do you enjoy about being a part of the Camas community?

Camas cares, and you can feel it. When there’s a need within the community, the residents rise to meet it.

What is your favorite memory in Camas?

The DECA students awarded our new rescue Plott Hound Camas Dog Mayor, at the 2019 A Tail To Remember Event. JB got to meet the real mayor and greet his constituents at the Camas Farmer’s Market. I’ve never been more proud!
